As an applied mathematician, my research attention is drawn towards theoretical aspects of ecology (particularly of dispersive marine organisms) and conservation management.
I particularly enjoy problems where quantitative modelling can provide insights despite a lack of high-quality data – identifying situations where we can avoid spending time and resources collecting more information, and instead make robust decisions in the face of existing uncertainty.
I am also fascinated by practical and philosophical questions about conservation fences (e.g., to create habitat free of invasive predators).
