Tracy has been involved in CEED research as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow, firstly through the University of Melbourne, and from 2015, through the University of Queensland.
Her research interests include: Decision Analysis, Ecological Modelling, Conservation Biology, Conservation Ecology, Environmental Management, Planning and Monitoring, Invasive Species, and Environmental Economics. In particular, she applies methods from decision science to analyse and solve ecological management problems. She uses mathematics, modelling, statistical analysis, and ecological theory to find the best ways to manage and conserve natural systems.
Projects she is currently working on include:
-
Optimal timings of managed relocations for species threatened by climate change.
-
Decision modelling for fox eradication in Tasmania and on Phillip Island, Victoria.
-
Helping the
Save the Tasmanian Devil team
to plan monitoring for diseased devils on Forestier Peninsula in Tasmania, with Chris Baker, Stew Huxtable, and
Brendan Wintle
. We aim to confirm the absence of diseased devils on the peninsula to pave the way for reintroduction of disease-free captive-bred devils.
-
Developing an adaptive search method for plants that lets us learn from survey data collected over time, while at the same time finding as many individuals as possible, with
Cindy Hauser
,
Joslin Moore
, and
Mick McCarthy
. While we are building this model with invasive weeds in mind, it could also be applied to threatened plant species.
